Precision Placement
Day 4 | The Promise
A Scripture-centered reading from the Precision Prayer devotional collection.
Two thousand years ago an angel visited Mary and gave her a promise. She would give birth to our Lord and Savior. She was highly favored. I believe God has a way of choosing the right moms. Robert was the first born and my mom’s name was Mary. Mom went by her middle name Elaine which means bright, shining light or sun ray.
That was mom, our bright shining light.
My mom passed away at age 86. She was kind and more giving than I can explain. Like Robert, her health deteriorated in her last days. One thing that brings me comfort is knowing all four of her boys were with her that day. On earth Steven, Jon and I were there in that hospital room. We were able to send her off with love while Robert was on the receiving end of Heaven.
The Bible says to be absent in the body is to be present with Christ. I can’t say for certain, but I believe Robert greeted her immediately. They are both healthy today. Neither are hindered by their former bodies. Both are in the most beautiful place we can imagine.
Mostly they are with Jesus which gives me great comfort that one day I will see them both.
We have great things to look forward to if we serve the Lord.
On earth, we are not promised tomorrow but we can stand on God’s promises.
Today I celebrate my departed loved ones knowing they reached the mark.
We still have some running to do.
Battles to endure.
Victories to be had.
Perhaps you have had similar challenges in life.
Maybe you are like me and have had some tough times.
I know a God that is able. In fact, He is able to exceedingly, abundantly above all that we may ask or think.
Life placed some difficult things in our path.
But it also placed some incredible people beside us.
Looking back, I can now see the hand of God through it all.
Through sickness.
Through grief.
Through regret.
Through love.
He was faithful then.
And He is still faithful now.
Precision Practice
Today we lay it all at Jesus’ feet. We surrender to God knowing we cannot but He can.
Trials will come and go.
Seasons will change.
God is unchanging.
His promises are yes and amen.
Put your Trust in Jesus.
He will not let you down.
In fact, He will hold you in your toughest times.
Amen.
